About the 16 Days of Activism

From 25 November to 10 December, the 16 Days of Activism unites individuals, organisations, and governments around the world to speak out, take action, and demand accountability. The campaign links the International Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women with Human Rights Day,

reinforcing that women’s safety is a fundamental human right.

UN Women's Work

UN Women plays a transformative role in advancing gender equality and empowering women and girls worldwide. Through strategic partnerships, advocacy, and on-the-ground programs, it addresses critical issues such as

gender-based violence, economic empowerment, political participation, and access to education and healthcare. UN Women amplifies the voices of marginalized communities, especially in conflict zones and humanitarian settings, ensuring that women's rights are not side lined. By driving policy change and supporting grassroots movements, it fosters inclusive societies where

women can lead, thrive, and shape the future.

The SAFE. EVERYWHERE. ALWAYS. campaign is a powerful extension of UN Women’s mission, calling for a world where every woman and girl can live free from violence, fear, and discrimination in all spaces including public, private, online, and in transit. This campaign asks individuals community members to unite to raise awareness and demand safer environments for all women. By connecting global advocacy with local action, the campaign reinforces the message that

safety is a fundamental human right, not a privilege.
