Stories That Inspire
Naomi Ohue has been with MFO for over 4 years, receiving Support Coordination and Support Work through our NDIS services. She is a shining example of pursuing her passions and dreams, not defined by her disability.
Her love for sailing began in 2002 in Japan through the Sailability program, a not-for-profit initiative that provides a safe and supportive environment for people with disabilities to enjoy on-water activities. After moving to the Gold Coast, Naomi continued sailing at Hollywell’s Sailability program and soon became a dedicated volunteer, sharing over 20 years of experience with people of all abilities. She volunteers twice a week, bringing joy, guidance, and support to participants, and was honoured with life membership for her years of service.
Naomi is also an accomplished competitor. In 2023 and 2025, she achieved multiple awards, including Para Sailor of the Year at the Australian Sailing Association Queensland Awards. She has competed internationally, most recently winning a medal at the International Hansa Competition and is set to represent Australia at the World Championship SKUD 18 International Match Racing in Auckland in February 2026. Despite these accolades, Naomi says her most meaningful work is volunteering at Sailability, helping others and sharing the freedom and joy sailing brings. She is completely in her element being on the water, with sailing giving her a sense of freedom, joy, peace, strength, and healing.
At MFO, as a registered provider, we offer a range of NDIS services including Support Coordination, Support Work, and more to help participants live their best lives.
Monthly Social Events
MFO also organises social group activities, including our low-cost Big Night Out, where participants meet monthly for dinner and group activities with 10-20 people. These outings offer a great chance to socialize, enjoy new experiences, and connect with others. Previous activities have included:

Top Golf

Q1 Observation Deck and Dinner

Outback Spectacular
MFO runs a free sewing group every Monday and a multicultural women’s group every Wednesday, offering social engagement and activities. While not specifically disability-focused, these groups are open to all women and are free to join.
For more information about our services or to participate in any of our social activities, feel free to contact our friendly team. We will be happy to assist you and help you get involved.
