EVENTS: AN EVENING OF COMMUNITY, CONNECTION AND IMPACT

MFO's 30th Anniversary Gala

On Thursday 24 September 2026, Multicultural Families Organisation celebrated 30 years of supporting migrants, refugees and multicultural families across the Gold Coast.

A night to remember

Our 30th Anniversary Gala brought together community members, partners, supporters, clients, performers, staff and friends to celebrate the people, families and communities who have shaped MFO’s journey over the past three decades.

MFO began in 1996 with a group of women sitting around a table: no funding, no office and no grand plan, just a shared commitment to support migrant and refugee families in need. Thirty years later, so much has changed, but the heart of MFO remains the same: when someone needs help, we show up.

Over the years, MFO has grown alongside the communities we serve. New programs, services and spaces have been created as new needs emerged, from settlement support and youth programs to women’s groups, training and employment pathways, NDIS, domestic and family violence support, and community outreach.

Every new program has started in much the same way: someone needed help, and someone at MFO said, “Let’s find a way.”

Here's to the next chapter

Thirty years ago, MFO was founded on a simple belief: that everyone deserves the opportunity to belong, participate and thrive. As our communities grow and change, MFO will continue evolving alongside them.

Thank you to everyone who joined us to celebrate this milestone.
